翡翠航空于2004年成立,2006年8月正式运营，是深圳航空,德国汉莎航空和DEG德国投资银行的合资公司,主要为客户提供机场到机场的货运航空服务及包机服务。

    翡翠航空主基地位于南中国门户城市深圳。公司机队由六架全新的波音747-400 延程型货机组成。波音747-400延程型货机是一款经济实用的先进货机型号, 它的最大载重量达到 412,775 kg, 最大航程接近10,000 km 最大载重量超过123吨, 相比而言，一个标准的波音747-400F. 货运航机带有不同于普通波音747系列的温度控制区特色，可控温度在摄氏4度至29度之间。它的前舱门和侧门可以充分满足承运人的特殊尺寸运载要求。

    自2006年8月开航以来，翡翠主要致力于建立连接中国主要经济中心（珠三角、长三角和北方地区）与欧洲市场的航线网络，并在深圳、上海和天津设立了航站。从这三个城市翡翠目前不仅开通了到阿姆斯特丹、法兰克福、巴塞罗那、布雷西亚、维也纳、伊斯坦布尔等城市的航线，还开通了至韩国首尔，印度马德拉斯，阿拉伯联合酋长国迪拜的航线。2010年10月翡翠将其航线延伸至北美，开通了上海至美国的航线。未来，翡翠将不断拓展覆盖中国至欧洲、亚洲、中东、北美等主要地区和城市的最佳的航线网络。

    Jade Cargo was founded in October 2004. The company has three shareholders:  Shenzhen Airlines, Lufthansa Cargo AG and DEG — a German development bank.

    With its headquarters in Shenzhen, China, Jade Cargo is ideally positioned within the dynamic Pearl River Delta in close proximity to the major metropolitan centers of Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

    In the Summer of 2006, the Jade Cargo fleet began a rapid growth period as it took delivery of its first Boeing 747-400 ERF (Extended Range Freighter). Thereafter, the company took delivery of a new aircraft every three months.  Jade Cargo now operates with a fleet of six Boeing 747-400 ERFs.

    The Boeing 747-400 Extended Range Freighter is an economical state-of-the-art freighter, having an increased maximum take off weight of 413,000 kg.  The aircraft can fly an additional 1,000 km or carry an additional 10,000 kg of payload, compared with a standard B747-400F.

    A unique feature of the B747-400F series is the incorporation of temperature controlled zones, which allow for variation in ambient temperature from 4 to 29 degrees Celsius.

    The freighter is ideally suited for over-sized cargo which cannot be accommodated on smaller freighters or older 747 models by virtue of its “nose door” loading capability.

    When it began flights in August of 2006, Jade Cargo focused primarily on establishing connections between China’s major production and population centers and complimentary markets in Europe.  From it’s Chinese hubs of Shenzhen, Shanghai & Tianjin Jade connects to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Barcelona ，Brescia, Vienna and Istanbul.

    With further expansion, Jade Cargo initiated service to Seoul - Korea, Madras — India, Dubai — United Arab Emirates.  Future expansion plans would incorporate additional points in Europe, South East Asia and North America.
